STURGIS, S.D. – In wrestling action Thursday, the Sturgis Scoopers picked up a pair of dual wins in a triangular featuring Rapid City Stevens and Philip.
The Scoopers defeated Rapid City Stevens 43-16 and crowned nine champions. They included Reese Jacobs at 182, Aiden Werlinger at 195, Zak Juelfs at 220, Teryn Zebroski at 113, Beau Peters at 132, Thayne Elshere at 138, Kalvin Ketelsen at 145, Dawson Inhofer at 152 and Preston Ray at 170.
The Scoopers also defeated Philip 45-27.
In other wrestling action, Rapid City Central earned a pair of victories at the Rapid City Triangular.
The Cobblers defeated Douglas/New Underwood/RC Christian 47-18 and beat Spearfish 60-10. On the third dual of the day, the Patriots earned a 45-33 win over the Spartans.
In girls’ action, Central defeated Douglas/New Underwood/RC Christian 33-12 and Spearfish defeated the Cobblers 42-9.
Hot Springs picked up a pair of wins at their home triangular. The Bison defeated Hill City 60-0 and Red Cloud 60-0.
And, at the McCook Central/Montrose Quad, Custer went undefeated with wins over the home team, Tri Valley and Kingsbury County.
