PINE HAVEN, Wyo. – The Pine Haven Fire, on the edge of the Pine Haven, Wyoming Town limits, is estimated at 100 acres. The cause of the fire is under investigation and is approximately 40% contained.
The fire was actively burning yesterday. A line is built completely around the fire. Back burn operations are happening to reinforce the fire line. There is unburned fuel that will continue to burn. Smoke will be visible during these operations.
The priority of the firefighting effort is firefighter and public safety. Incident Commander Dick Terry also listed minimization of public loss and protection of private property as objectives of the multi-agency response. Residences in the northwest section of Pine Haven have been evacuated and were asked to voluntarily remain out of their homes overnight. Everyone in this subdivision has been notified. Highway 113 into Pine Haven at the intersection of Old Sundance is open to residents only.
The multi-agency effort now has over 85 firefighters on scene. Along with 30 county fire engines, there are 2 privately owned blades, 2 county blades, 1 dozer, 1 20-person hand crew, 2 units from the Bureau of Land Management, 1 unit from Wyoming State Forestry, 2 Seat Planes (single engine air tanker) 1 helicopter, and 1 4 person Heli tack crew.
Cooperators managing the fire include Crook County Volunteer Fire Moorcroft Volunteer Fire, Pine Haven Volunteer Fire, Hulett Volunteer Fire, Carlile Volunteer Fire, Sundance Volunteer Fire, Aladdin Volunteer Fire, Beulah Volunteer Fire, Oshoto Volunteer Fire, Wyoming State Forestry, Crook County Sheriff’s Office, Crook County Emergency Management, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation and the United State Forest Service Thunder Basin National Grassland unit.
