Active cases decrease, no new deaths in Monday COVID-19 report

PIERRE, S.D. – New COVID-19 cases Monday totaled 317 statewide with 45 of them considered probable.

The number of active cases dropped 124 today to 12,623. The number of people hospitalized increased by 5 to 441.

No new deaths were reported today, keeping the state’s death toll at 1,259.

Across the Black Hills, Pennington County had 56 new cases. Active cases in Pennington are at 1,567 Monday.

In Meade County, new cases totaled 9 with 327 active. Lawrence County added 12 new cases and active cases are 332.

Other new cases across West River counties include 10 in Jackson, 8 in Dewey, 7 in Perkins, 5 in Todd, 4 in Tripp, 2 each in Butte, Oglala Lakota, Corson, Haakon and Mellette and one each in Custer, Fall River, Ziebach and Bennett.

There were 691 new persons tested reported on Monday. Monday’s new person tested positivity rate is 45%.
