Active cases of COVID-19 drop below 450 and hospitalizations decrease by 15 in Tuesday report

PIERRE, S.D. – The State Department of Health reported 81 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday, with 8 of those listed as probable. Today’s report includes numbers from Saturday and Sunday.

Active cases dropped below 500 today to 448 and the number of people hospitalized tumbled 15 to 41.

No new deaths were reported, keeping the state’s death toll at 2.004.

Pennington County had 11 new cases Tuesday, with one of those considered as a probable case.

Lawrence County had 5 new cases and Meade County added a confirmed new case and a new probable case.

Two new cases were reported in Butte County and Custer County added an additional confirmed case.

As for the vaccination effort, health officials report as of Tuesday, 53.98% of the population 12-years-old and above has received at least one dose while 48.86% have completed the vaccination series.
