STURGIS, S.D. — It began in Utah on July 29 and on August 7, they rumbled into Sturgis to help kick off the annual motorcycle rally.
The Veterans Charity Ride is a veteran-operated, non-profit organization that uses what they call ‘motorcycle therapy’ to get veterans involved in motorcycle riding.
Some veterans have custom-built bikes and sidecars to take part in the ride.
The ride began in Moab, Utah and along the way, made stops in cities and towns in Colorado and Wyoming before riding into the Indian Motorcycle dealership in Sturgis.
This year, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Veterans Charity Ride donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) bundled packages to the first responders and front-line workers working this year’s rally.
They had a ‘Hero’s Welcome’, where the veterans were recognized and thanked for their service and commitment to our country.
This year, as a response to the pandemic, the VCR will implement a “service before self” initiative to show appreciation to first responders who have been working on the frontlines during the pandemic by donating PPE items throughout the ride.
