Another Good Month for Deadwood Gaming

DEADWOOD, S.D. According to statistics released today by the South Dakota Commission on Gaming, the February 2021 gaming handle showed a 17.77 percent increase, with slot machine handle increasing by 18.65 percent when compared to February 2020. The table game handle increased by 6.68 percent when compared to 2020 February’s table game numbers. Deadwood gaming operators rewarded players with $1,241,626 in “free-play” for the month of February, leaving taxable adjusted gross revenues of $8,612,921 for February of 2021.

“Deadwood’s gaming numbers are continuing their strong positive trend,” said Mike Rodman, executive director of the Deadwood Gaming Association. “We believe that 2021 will be a very good year for Deadwood as travel trends are focused domestically with visitors intrigued with the balance of wide-open recreational opportunities and local entertainment options that Deadwood provides.”

The DGA is currently working with the South Dakota Commission on gaming to develop the rules surrounding SB 44 to allow sports wagering sometime around the first of September.
