New cases of COVID-19 back up Wednesday and one new death reported

PIERRE, S.D. – New COVID-19 cases were back up today, as are the number of active cases across the state.

In their Wednesday report, the state Department of Health reported 213 confirmed cases of COVID-19, along with 63 probable for a total of 276.

The active caseload in South Dakota is up 110 today to 2,350.

Hospitalizations are up two to 72.

One new death was reported, sending the state’s death toll to 1,924. The new death announced was a man in the 70-79 age range from Beadle County.

Across the Black Hills area, there were 27 confirmed cases.

Pennington County accounted for 23 of the new cases, sending the cumulative total there to an even 13,200. Of those, 157 remain active.

Lawrence County reported 3 new cases Wednesday and Custer County reported the other new case.
