Area athletes wrap up competition at Howard Wood Dakota Relays

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Howard Wood Dakota Relays  wrapped up two days of competition Saturday.

Several area athletes brought home first place hardware from this year’s meet.

In the boys’ 400 meters, Blake Boyster of Custer won in a time of 50.25 seconds.

Speedster Simeon Birnbaum of Stevens won the 1,600 meters in a time of 4:27.56.

Jason Maciejczak of Douglas captured first place in the discus throw and Braden Delahoyde of Spearfish won the high jump.

Aiden Giffin of Belle Fourche won the long jump with a leap of 22-07.75.

On the girls side, Baylee Van Zee brought home second in the 100-meter hurdles and the Stevens relay team came in second in the 4 x 400.

Spearfish brought home second in the 4 x 800 relay and Sturgis came in third. The Scoopers also had a third place finish in the medley.

Kellyn Kortemeyer of Custer won the shot put with a throw of 45-01.25. She also won the discus with a throw of 150-11.

Brynn Nelson of Stevens won the javelin and Matayah Yellow Mule of Rapid City Central captured the triple jump.
