YANKTON, S.D. – Minnetonka won both the girls and boys team titles of the Heartland Preview Cross Country Meet Saturday.
Winning the boys race was Simeon Birnbaum of Rapid City Stevens in a time of 14:47:08. Nick Gilles of Minnetonka came in second and Cashton Johnson of Harrisburg was third.
The top placing Sturgis Scooper was Deron Graf in 17th.
Minnetonka won the boys team title with a score of 34. Worthington, Minnesota was a distant second and Rapid City Stevens was third. Sturgis finished in 8th.
On the girls’ side, Ali Bainbridge of Sioux Falls Lincoln won the race in a time of 17:10:07. Libby Castelli of O’Gorman was second and Brionna Holso of RC Stevens was third.
The top placing Scooper was Lucy Hamer in 30th.
Minnetonka won the girls team title with a score of 61. Spearfish was second and Rapid City Stevens was third. Sturgis finished in ninth.
