RAPID CITY, S.D. — A New Town, N.D., woman has been identified as the person who died last Thursday in a one-vehicle crash east of Rapid City.

Preliminary crash information indicates that a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado K1500 pickup was westbound on South Dakota Highway 44 when the driver failed to negotiate a right turn. The vehicle went across the centerline, into a ditch and rolled.

Both vehicle occupants were not wearing seat belts and both were thrown from the pickup.

Candace Arapahoe, 40, was pronounced dead at the scene. Russell Martinez, 22, of Rapid City, sustained serious non-life threatening injuries. He was transferred to a Rapid City hospital.
