Authorities report 6 DUI arrests on New Year’s Eve in Pennington County

RAPID CITY, S.D.  – On New Year’s Eve, the Rapid City Police Department and the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office made six DUI arrests, three per department.

Authorities say that is about average for a weekend, and is not particularly high for a festive holiday like New Year’s Eve.

The total number of calls Rapid City Police handled was high this New Year’s Eve, however. Police say they handled nearly 215 calls from 6:00 p.m. New Year’s Eve to 6:00 a.m. New Year’s Day.

Meanwhile, Police in Rapid City say a New Year’s Day crash injured three people.

The  accident involved two pickup truck that collided with each other on Sheridan Lake Road.

The driver of a northbound truck and two occupants of a southbound truck all escaped with just minor injuries.

The patrol says charges are pending.
