SPEARFISH, S.D. – According to a release, Black Hills State University, South Dakota School of Mines and Chadron State have decided to play fall football after all.
All three schools announced Monday a shortened five-game season.
Each team plans to play each other twice – games home and away – with one more game scheduled with Colorado Mesa – who has also decided to play football.
The decision comes after the RMAC announced last month that fall sports were off due to COVID-19.
The shortened schedule for the four schools begins October 10. BHSU will play the Hardrockers at Rapid City for a 5:00 p.m. game and Chadron State plays at Colorado Mesa.
Then, on October 17, the Hardrockers will play at Chadron at 5:00 p.m. and the Yellowjackets will play at home against Colorado Mesa with kickoff set for Noon.
On October 24, South Dakota Mines play at Colorado Mesa at Noon and BHSU will play at Chadron State at 2:00 p.m.
On Halloween, Chadron State will play at School of Mines at 4:00 p.m. and BHSU will have a bye.
On November 7, the Hardrockers come to Spearfish to take on their arch rival Yellowjackets at 1:00 p.m.
The season will wrap up on Movember 14th as BHSU and Chadron State play each other at Lyle Hare Stadium at 1:00 p.m.
The schedule is subject to change due to COVID-19 related issues.
