COVID-19 active cases tumble as state reports 191 new positive tests Monday

STURGIS, S.D. – Active cases and hospitalizations were down again today as the state recorded 191 new cases of COVID-19 Monday.

The state’s active caseload dropped 126 today to below 3,000 at 2,892. Also, the number of people hospitalized due to COVID-19 was down 3 today to 78.

Pennington, Meade and Lawrence County all saw a decrease in the number of active cases, although each added new cases.

Pennington reported 18 new COVID-19 cases Monday, sending the cumulative total to 1,635 with 415 remaining active. The active number of cases is tumbled 29 Monday.

In Meade, there were 4 new positive COVID-19 tests, sending the county total to 348 with 117 active. The active cases are down 13 today in Meade County.

And, in Lawrence County, there were 3 new cases Monday, sending the total to 263 with 90 remaining active. The active caseload in Lawrence is down 6 today.

New cases elsewhere around the Black Hills region include 3 in Butte County, 2 in Fall River County and one in Oglala Lakota County. Active cases in Custer and Oglala Lakota counties are down 4 today while the active number of cases in Butte is up 2 today to 27. Custer County’s active caseload is 59 while there 31 active cases in Oglala Lakota.

No new deaths were reported Monday. The state’s death total remains at 173.
