PIERRE, S.D. – The Hughes County Sheriff’s Office has released body cam footage obtained during a traffic enforcement stop involving Jason Ravnsborg of Pierre.
A Hughes County Sheriff’s Deputy cited Ravnsborg for Speeding on Other Roadways (SDCL 32-25-7). Radar indicated a speed of 57 mph in a posted 35 mph speed zone.
The traffic stop was made Sunday, August 22, 2021 at approximately 8:50 p.m. CDT on South Garfield Avenue in Pierre.
Hughes County Sheriff Patrick Callahan made the determination to release the unedited video following media and public inquires citing disclosure under SDCL 1-27-1.5 (5) of the state open records law.
The stop is rather routine, and Ravnsborg tells the officer he was coming down a hill and when asked for his license, registration and proof of insurance, Ravnsborg says he didn’t have his license with him.
