Candidates running for Meade 46-1 School Board participate in forum

STURGIS, S.D. – Five candidates running for the Meade 46-1 School Board participated in an election forum Monday night, answering questions from those in attendance.

Three seats on the board are available.

The candidates are John Nachtigall, Lee Spring, Sandy Cass, Justin Jutting and Kami Wolf-Perli. Nachtigall and Spring are incumbents running for another term.

Candidates answered tough questions on various topics. They include safety within the district’s schools, the number of vacancies being seen and recruiting more teachers, a proposed high school for the Piedmont/Summerset area, and curriculum standards.

The school board election will be held in conjunction with the June 7th primary.
