Department of Health reports 33 new cases of COVID-19 in Monday report

PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Health reported 33 new positive tests for COVID-19 in its Monday report.

The new cases were mostly in eastern South Dakota, with the exception of an additional case in Stanley County. There were no new positive tests reported in the Black Hills area. Minnehaha County saw the most with 26 and neighboring Lincoln County reported an additional 3 new cases. Other cases reported were in Brookings, Douglas and Yankton Counties.

The state’s cumulative total is 2,245, but as of today, there are 918 active cases.

The health department reported 15 new hospitalizations for a total of 61 people currently hospitalized.

So far, 1,316 people have recovered from the virus.

The state’s death toll remained at 11, following yesterday’s announcement of a male in his 50’s from Minnehaha County who had died.
