DOH reports 53 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday; 10 in the Black Hills area

PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Health reported 53 new cases of COVID-19 in the Thursday report.

Around the Black Hills area, Pennington County added 6 new cases, Meade County had one and Lawrence County had two new cases.

In Pennington County, the cumulative total is 430 with 150 active cases – down 13 from Wednesday.

In Meade, the one new case sent the cumulative total to 40 with 15 active cases – down 2 from Wednesday.

And, in Lawrence County, the two new cases raise the cumulative total to 15 with 4 active cases.

Elsewhere across Western South Dakota, there were five new cases in Oglala Lakota and one new case in Lyman County.

The total number of active cases statewide is 810 – down 19 from Wednesday.

The number of people hospitalized currently is 93, up two from yesterday.

There were no new deaths reported today, so the state’s total remains at 78.
