Firecracker Tournament – Post 22 remains undefeated

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Post 22 remains undefeated at the Firecracker Tournament as they picked up a couple of wins Thursday.

In the first game, Post 22 edged Premier West 10-9 and in the second, the Hardhats rolled to a 14-1 win over Sterling, CO.

In game one, Post 22 drove in the winning run in the bottom half of the eighth inning as the score was tied at 9.

That came courtesy of Eli Oxner’s double that brought home Jake Goble for the winning run.

Colton Hartford added 2 R.B.I.’s to help Post 22.

In game two, the Hardhats scored 3 in the first, 8 in the second and another 3 in the third to run away with the game.

Hartford had 2 hits, 2 R.B.I.’s for the Hardhats and Peyton Tipton added 4 R.B.I.’s.

Elsewhere at the tournament:

In the first game of the day, the Gillette Riders earned a hard-fought 5-4 walkoff win over the Missoula Mavericks.

The game between Gillette and Rocky Mountain was moved to 9:30 a.m. Friday because of rain, lightning and hail.
