Firefighters rescue cat from burning home Tuesday

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire shortly before 7:30 p.m. yesterday evening on the 1100 block of Wood Avenue.

Once crews arrived, active fire could be seen coming from inside the home.

Crews began search and fire attack operations and were able to extinguish the flames quickly.

One cat was assessed by medical crews on scene and was successfully saved.

No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
