Game, Fish and Parks to dredge Lions Club Pond

STURGIS, S.D. – The city of Sturgis says the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Department will remove approximately 800 cubic meters of sediment from the Lions Club Pond.

Sturgis Public Works Director Rick Bush says they monitor the condition of the pond on a daily basis for water quality and plans for sediment removal as deemed necessary. He says the G.F. and P. will use a floating barge dredge.

Bush says the last time the pond as dredged was in 2011.

The project will begin in September and end in December.

Bush says the G.F. and P. will provide the dredge bags at no cost to the city.
