PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota health officials reported 95 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday, with 5 of those listed as probable.
After an increase Monday, active cases decreased today to 2,072.
The number of people hospitalized also decreased from 97 to 94.
No new deaths were reported Wednesday, keeping the state’s death toll at 1,844.
Across the Black Hills area, Pennington County added 16 new cases for a cumulative total of 12,669. Active cases are at 223.
Meade County reported 7 new cases for a total of 2,542. There are 52 active cases remaining in Meade County.
Lawrence County and Butte County each added one new case Wednesday.
During their weekly briefing today, Health Secretary Kim Malsom Rysdon says the state has doled out 158,505 doses of vaccine with 107,340 people getting vaccinated so far. Sixteen percent of the population has received at least one dose of vaccine with nearly 8-percent receiving both doses.
In Pennington County, 12,289 people have been vaccinated, Meade has vaccinated 2,008 and Lawrence has vaccinated 2,583.
