Joe Rainboth named Admissions Director at BHSU

SPEARFISH, S.D. – Joe Rainboth has been selected as the Director of Admissions at Black Hills State University.

Rainboth, who currently is working for the South Dakota Department of Education, has more than 10 years of professional experience in university admissions, enrollment, and student services. He previously served as Assistant Director of Admissions at BHSU and as Admissions Regional Director at the University of South Dakota (USD).

BHSU President Dr. Laurie Nichols said she’s looking forward to Rainboth’s leadership and expertise as he assumes the role of Director of Admissions at BHSU.

“Joe’s extensive admissions and higher education experience and his resourceful approach to an ever changing higher education landscape will strengthen BHSU’s recruitment strategies,” Nichols said. “I’m confident he’s ready to lead our admissions team successfully as they strategically meet enrollment goals and plans.”

Rainboth says he is looking forward to rejoining the staff at BHSU on April 24th.  

“I’m honored to be returning to Black Hills State University, as part of the Admissions team. It’s both an interesting and challenging time in higher education, and I look forward to helping strengthen BHSU as we work to come up with creative ways to best serve prospective students and their families,” Rainboth said.

Prior to his work in admissions, Rainboth served as the assistant director of the Center for American Indian Studies at BHSU. He has experience as a social media specialist for TDG Communications in Deadwood and was Admissions Regional Director and Multicultural Recruitment Coordinator for the USD.  He is currently an Education Program Specialist with the South Dakota Department of Education. Rainboth earned his Bachelor of Science in Contemporary Media and Journalism from USD.
