Larry J. Meier, 96, died Monday, March 13, 2023 at Monument Health Hospice House.
He was born January 27, 1927, in Roscoe, South Dakota to Andrew and Magdalena (Ehnes) Meier. The fifth of thirteen siblings.
He grew up and attended school in Roscoe, SD. Larry served two terms in the Korean War. Upon his return, he attended South Dakota State University and graduated with a degree in Industrial Engineering. When he moved to Rapid City he started Overhead Door Company , continuing his career in commercial and residential real estate.
He is survived by his wife, Anita Meier; daughter, Susan Ellenburg; son, Craig (Judy) Meier; daughter, Kris (Joe) Williams; sisters, Loretta Ablen and Shirley Gellhaus; brother, Andy (Deann) Meier; sister-in-law, Erma; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Jeffrey John; brothers, George, Henry, and Roy; and sisters, Betty, Bernadine, Margaret, Carolyn, Francis, and Adele.
Friends of Larry are invited to his graveside service at Black Hills National Cemetery, Friday, June 9, 2023 at 11:30 am. Military honors will be rendered by the SD Army National Guard Honor Guard and the Sturgis Volunteer Honor Guard.
