RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Police say a man died after extensive injuries he suffered in a grass fire Saturday.
Police say the fire occurred in an area being used as a makeshift camp for some homeless people. Police say witnesses report several campfires had been set and it’s possible that is what started the fire.
Police found the deceased individual after fire crews came to put the fire out.
An autopsy indicated the man died from smoke inhalation. Authorities are working to identify the individual.
