STURGIS, S.D. – The Meade 46-1 School Board met Monday night for their March meeting.
On the agenda was the project bid proposal for the Sturgis Brown High School parking lot improvement project.
The Business Office and Buildings & Grounds Department requested the Board accept the bid and alternate A from Dakota Asphalt in the amount of $230,384.00 and to authorize Business Manager Brett Burditt to work with Dakota Asphalt on a service agreement for the SBHS Parking Lot Improvement Project.
The board also approved a service agreement with Lowe Roofing in the amount of $98,900 to replace a section of roof at Sturgis Elementary. This agreement is part of the Fiscal Year 2025 Capital Outlay Budget. The board was informed it was essential to secure approval in advance to allow sufficient lead time for material procurement and scheduling within their summer workload.
The board last night also decided to discontinue discussion for now of a plan to move the 5th grade students at Whitewood Elementary to Sturgis Williams Middle School.
The plan, which was being discussed due to future budget woes, raised some concerns with parents whose children attend the school in Whitewood.
