STURGIS, S.D. – The Meade County Commission this past week awarded its lone available medical cannabis license to Puffy’s L.L.C.
They submitted their license on November 3rd – along with the required $125,000 license fee.
Rod Woodruff, owner of the Buffalo Chip campground, had his attorney ask the commission to hold off issuing the license because Woodruff had submitted a license application.
However, the commission went ahead and granted it to Puffy’s.
Woodruff’s attorney asked the commission to keep his client’s application on file, in case Puffy’s isn’t qualified by the state.
The commission decided earlier that it was only issuing one license. However, Meade County Deputy State’s Attorney Ken Chleborad said the county could, if they decided to, amend their medical cannabis ordinance and increase the number of dispensary licenses it would issue.
