STURGIS, S.D. – During their first meeting of 2023, the Meade County Commission welcomed in a new commissioner and had well-wishes for an outgoing one.
Gary Deering is the new commissioner for Meade County, District 1.
He succeeds Rod Bradley, who decided not to run for re-election.
Deering is an SDSU grad and has worked with the South Dakota Stockgrowers and Beef Industry Council for over 20 years.
He told commissioners on Tuesday he is looking forward to his time on the body.
Bradley, in the meantime, was thanked for his years of service working on the commission.
