New COVID-19 cases continue to see daily decline

PIERRE, S.D. – State health officials reported 569 new cases of confirmed and probable cases in their Friday report.

Along with a continued decline in daily new cases is the number of active cases statewide, which fell to 25,052.

The number of people hospitalized because of the virus saw an increase from 344 Thursday to 354 today.

Ten new deaths were reported, sending the state’s death toll to 2,687. Of the new deaths, there were one each reported out of Meade and Pennington County.

New cases across the Black Hills area included 74 in Pennington County, 21 in Lawrence County and 20 in Meade County.

Elsewhere, there were 15 in Oglala Lakota, 11 out of Butte, 10 in Fall River, 5 in Custer and Harding County reported one new case.
