PIERRE, S.D. – The Sunday COVID-19 report from the South Dakota Department of Health indicated 141 new cases with 47 of those scattered around the Black Hills region.
Pennington County saw the most with 14, sending their cumulative total to 1,042 and 152 of them remain active. The active number of cases in Pennington was up one today.
Meade and Lawrence counties both reported 12 new cases each. Meade County’s total rises to 164 with 65 active. The active cases in Meade County is up 10 Sunday.
Lawrence County has a cumulative total of 112 with 47 currently active. The active cases in Lawrence are up 12 Sunday.
Custer County recorded an additional 8 new cases, sending their total to 82 with 45 active cases. The active caseload in Custer is up 8 today.
And, Butte County reported an additional positive case, giving them a total of 27 with 9 active cases. The active number of cases in Butte is down one today.
The statewide active number of cases is up 11 today to 1,551. There are 62 people hospitalized due to COVID-19, down 4 from Saturday.
There were 129 new recoveries announced, bringing the state’s total to 9,564, up from Saturday (9,435).
One new COVID-19 related death was reported today, increasing the state’s total to 161. The state’s newest death was a male in his 80’s out of Bon Homme County.
New persons tested on Sunday was reported at 1,130.
