Titans Roll at Alliance Baseball Tourney

ALLIANCE, NE – Sturgis Post 33 easily dispatched Chadron FNBO Nationals Seniors 18U 10-2 on Friday at the annual Clair Conley baseball tournament.

The Titans opened up scoring in the first inning, when David Anderson singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Sturgis put up five runs in the third inning. Sam Kooima, Yaden Miller, Dawson Inhofer, and Anderson all drove in runs in the frame.

Conner Cruickshank took the win for Sturgis Post 33. The pitcher allowed one hit and two runs over four innings, walking zero.

Durck Bissonette took the loss for Chadron. Bissonette allowed ten hits and ten runs over four innings, striking out one.

The Titans totaled ten hits in the game. RJ Andrzejewski, Inhofer, and Beau Peters each had multiple hits for Sturgis Post 33. Andrzejewski led Sturgis Post 33 Titans with three hits in three at bats. Sturgis Post 33 Titans stole five bases during the game as Sam Kooima led the way with two.

Kobe Bissonette went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead the FNBO Nationals Seniors 18U in hits.

In the second game of the day, Sturgis Post 33 Titans had everything working, winning big over the Buckley Bombers 18U 9-3.

Sturgis Post 33 opened up scoring in the first inning, when David Anderson doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.

Post 33 notched four runs in the sixth inning. The offensive onslaught by Sturgis was led by Conner Cruickshank, Beau Peters, and Owen Cass, who each had RBIs in the inning.

Hunter Janzen got the win for Sturgis Post 33. The pitcher lasted four innings, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out two. Sam Kooima threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Chris Arambula took the loss for Buckley. The hurler allowed nine hits and eight runs over five innings, striking out four.

Sturgis Post 33 tallied 11 hits on the day, led by Anderson and Cass with three hits each.

The Titans (8-13) face the Westco Zephyrs and Oglalla, NE in pool play on Saturday.
