PIERRE, S.D. – State health officials reported 897 new COVID-19 cases in their Monday report.
Active cases decreased today, dropping 1,221 to 18,139.
Hospitalizations increased by 7 to 560.
And, after a deadly weekend in which 76 people died, the state reported no new deaths in their Monday report.
In the Black Hills healthcare system, The percentage of available I.C.U. beds remains dangerously low at 6.4-percent. COVID-19 patients account for 34-percent of those beds as of Monday. The Black Hills area is the hardest hit for I.C.U. beds so far as the statewide percentage of available I.C.U. beds is 33.9-percent.
As for new cases West River, there were 209 reported.
Pennington County reported 84 new COVID-19 cases Monday, sending their cumulative total to 7,077 with 1,985 remaining active. Active cases were down 161 in Pennington County today.
Lawrence County added 24 new cases and Meade County had 22. The total in Lawrence County rises to 1,668 and Meade County’s total is 1,441. Active cases in Lawrence dropped to 507 today while Meade County’s active caseload also dropped to 339.
Other new cases Monday include 14 in Dewey, 10 each in Oglala Lakota, Tripp and Todd, 7 each in Gregory and Mellette, 5 in Butte, 4 each in Perkins, Stanley and Bennett, 2 in Custer, 1 each in Lyman and Fall River.
