One dead in Rapid City car crash Monday

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Authorities say one person is dead following a single car crash in Rapid City Monday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of E. Saint Patrick and Cambell Streets. Law enforcement reports that the driver was dead at the scene.

According to eyewitnesses, the car was heading south on Cambell Street at a very high rate of speed, swerved to avoid traffic, jumped the curb and crashed – landing in a vertical position.

Police blocked off the intersection and re-routed traffic.

The Rapid City Accident Reconstruction Team and Rapid City Police are investigating.
