STURGIS, S.D. – The special election for the Rural Meade County Ambulance District, scheduled for March 23rd, is still proceeding as scheduled.
Because of the rising concerns about COVID-19, the location has been moved from the Sturgis Community Center to the County Auditor’s Election Room in the Erskine Building in Sturgis.
Meade Count Auditor Lisa Schieffer says this facility will be appropriately staffed to ensure the safety and convience of workers.
The Erskine Building is located at 1300 Sherman Street in Sturgis. Rural residents who live outside city limits and are served by the Sturgis Ambulance Service are eligible to vote. Residents of Buffalo Chip, however, are not voting.
Voters are still able to vote absentee until Friday, March 20, until 5:00 p.m.
On the day of the election, the polling place will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
