The tentative plan is to burn multiple units in both locations Oct. 20 through 23. BLM is looking to accomplish around 480 acres total, including 260 acres at Fort Meade and 220 acres at Ruby Flats.

Resources supporting burning operations include the U.S. Forest Service, State of South Dakota, Piedmont Volunteer Fire Department, Whispering Pines Volunteer Fire Department, Rapid City Fire Department, Rapid City Fire Department Veterans Crew and Lewistown Bureau of Land Management.

Personnel and engines will stay on scene at both burn locations throughout the next several days to patrol and secure the fire perimeters until the prescribed burns are declared out.
