STURGIS, S.D. – Today (Monday) is Veterans Day across South Dakota and the country, as veterans are being honored in many ways.
Here in Sturgis, the annual Veterans Day Program hosted by the Sturgis Vet’s Club was held this morning.
The program featured the Sturgis Honor Guard performing the firing of 3 rifle volleys and the playing of TAPS.
A chili feed at the Vet’s Club followed. Several area restaurants were also providing free meals for Veterans.
The Meade 46-1 School District also honored those who served today as Veterans visited with students about their service.
In Rapid City, the annual Veterans Day Parade was held downtown, featuring marching bands and floats.
The annual parade is hosted by the VFW Post 1273.
Following the parade, Main Street Square hosted their Veterans Day Ceremony with free breakfast and the VFW was hosting a free luncheon.
