RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Fire crews knocked down a fire at Pacific Steel and Recycling Tuesday afternoon.
The fire was reported around 1:00 p.m. According to Fire Information Oficer Jim Bussell.
He says a pile of scrap had caught on fire and near the scrap metal there was metal containing chemicals and acid which increased the risk of the fire spreading.
Firefighters used a unit with a long ladder to attack the fie from above and made quick progress in extinguishing the flames.
Crews shut down E. Minnesota to Cambell Street as they battled the blaze.
