Rapid City Invitational – Pierre leads after day one; Sturgis in fourth

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Invitational Wrestling Tournament got underway Friday.

The Sturgis Scoopers will be sending six wrestlers on to the semifinals Saturday.

They are Teryn Zebroski at 113 pounds, Tegan Zebroski at 120, Beau Peters at 132, Reese Jacobs at 182, Aiden Werlinger at 195 and Zak Juelfs at 220.

They are among several other West River wresters who have advance to today’s semifinals.

They include wrestlers from Rapid City Stevens, Winner, Spearfish, Philip, Belle Fourche and Custer.

In the team standings, Pierre is in first place with 82 points. Watertown is second with 78.5 and Rapid City Stevens sits in third with 76.5. Sturgis is fourth with 74 points and Tea Area rounds out the top five.

In the girls bracket, there are 11 West River wrestlers advancing to today’s semifinals. Among them for Sturgis are Brooklyn Baird at 120 and Madison Snyder at 126.

Pierre leads the girls team standings with 111. Bismarck is a distant second with 83 points. Spearfish is third and Rapid City Stevens is fourth. Sturgis sits in 12th.
