RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Mayor Steve Allender has issued a veto of a conditional use permit approved by the common council in mid-June.
The conditional use permit was to allow a building on North Street to serve as a rescue mission.
Mayor Allender wrote in his veto that he was concerned about pedestrian safety, traffic in the area and overall site-specific safety.
Allender believes those factors were not weighed when the council made the decision to approve the conditional use permit.
This veto will be up for reconsideration at the July sixth Rapid City city council meeting.
