PIERRE, S.D. – Rapid City Post 22 split a pair of games in Pierre Sunday, getting a win over Renner before dropping a game to Pierre Post 8.
In the Renner game, the Hardhats scored 4 runs in the first and two in the second to take a 6-0 lead into the third. Renner got on the board in the third, scoring two, but the Hardhats would score five runs in the fourth and get a 11-4 win.
Ryan Bachman and Colton Hartford each had 3 hits to lead the Hardhats. Dylan Richey added 2 R.B.I.’s for Post 22.
Tad Scherbenske pitched three innings and struck out five for the Hardhats.
In the second game, Pierre Post 8 scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to escape with a 6-5 thrilling win.
Post 22 led Pierre 5-4 heading into the bottom of the seventh. Post 22 added 3 in the top of the seventh to take the lead.
Garrett Stout helped lead the Pierre charge with 3 hits and 2 R.B.I.’s. Andy Gordon added 3 R.B.I’s for Post 8.
Grey Zabel got the pitching win for Pierre, going six innings and striking out four.
Jake Goble added an R.B.I. for Post 22 and starting pitcher Bransen Kuehl struck out 5 in the loss.
