SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Mitchell outscored Rapid City Central 13-6 in the final quarter to pull away for a 48-40 victory in the consolation semifinals of the Girls Class AA State Basketball Tournament this afternoon.
The two teams were neck and neck and traded the lead several times before the Kernels pulled away in the final stanza.
After a quiet game against Sioux Falls Washington, Jordon Heckert scored 11 points to help lead the Cobblers. Her teammate Sadie Glade also scored 11.
Camryn Krogman led Mitchell with 18 points.
Rapid City Central plays for seventh place on Saturday.

WATERTOWN, S.D. – The Belle Fourche Broncs gave it their all, cutting a double digit lead by Dakota Valley to single digits in the fourth quarter, but fell in the Class B consolation semifinals.
Dakota Valley led 38-20 at halftime, but the Belle Fourche Broncs came storming back in the second half and were within 3 points with 22 seconds left.
After a missed free throw by Dakota Valley with 18 seconds left, Bella Jensen scored on a layup with 9.5 seconds left to make it 64-63.
After a quick foul, Dakota Valley knocked down two free throws to make it 66-63. A last second attempt at a 3-pointer to tie it by Jensen was off the mark and the Panthers held on for the win.
