RAPID CITY, S.D. – Southwest Middle and North Middle Schools in Rapid City are starting a new electronic hall pass project.
The electronic hall pass involves a student sending a request from their computer to their teachers’ computers.
The Rapid City Area School District says by transitioning from traditional hall passes, they can provide real-time monitoring of students.
Not all parents are happy about the change. Some believe the school is denying children their basic human rights.
However, RCAS says using technology to monitor their students, schools can improve safety, accountability, and administrative efficiency, which will improve the overall experience for students and staff.
