Rural Harding County couple loses home to Sunday fire

REDIG, S.D. – A rural Harding County home was destroyed by fire Sunday, and friends and neighbors are setting up a fund to help the family.

In a Facebook Post today, Kelly Fox of Redig, South Dakota, posted the family had recently moved their house onto their property so they could help out around the ranch. The destroyed home was owned by Christian and Cassie Holland.

The post says the two were able to salvage some clothes and boots, but they lost all their household furnishings, vet supplies, canning equipment – and most importantly – their home.

Fox says in her post they are currently looking to find the couple another house, and aside from that, monetary donations are the best thing needed now. They have set up an account to accept donations at First Interstate Bank in Belle Fourche.

Harding County Sheriff Wyatt Sabo says no injuries were reported and it’s believed the fire may have started in the area of the home’s fireplace.
