STURGIS, S.D. – Sturgis Brown High School Principal Pete Wilson updated the Meade 46-1 School Board Monday night on the recent trimester proposal presentations.
Wilson told the board a questionnaire about the proposed trimester schedule at the high school was sent to students and parents following last week’s presentations.
He says 154 students responded to the survey, and 67 had concerns with 70 having no concerns. Of the 154, 27 preferred the proposed 5×3 trimester plan with 90 preferring the current A/B block schedule.
Wilson says they got responses from 74 parents, and of those, 33 had concerns and 41 had no concerns. There were 44 parents who stated they preferred the proposed trimester plan with 25 preferring the current A/B block schedule.
A majority of parents did see advantages to the proposed trimester plan. Students were relatively split on the advantages. The proposed Trimester plan goes before the school board in December.
