STURGIS, S.D. – Both Scooper girls and boys basketball teams fell to Mitchell Friday night.
The girls played their game at home, and saw a two point lead after one quarter evaporate with a 13-3 run by the Kernels in the second quarter.
After a 20-12 lead heading into the third quarter, Mitchell never looked back and rolled to a 47-33 victory.
Led by Macy Kempf’s 10 points, the Kernels outscored Sturgis 14-7 in the fourth quarter.
Kylie Shaw led Sturgis with 9 points and Sarah Janz added 8.
Meanwhile, the Scooper boys dropped a 68-42 game to Mitchell.
The game, played in Mitchell, was dominated by the Kernels, who jumped out to a double digit lead in the first quarter and never looked back.
