HURON / STURGIS, SD – The Scooper girls traveled east to Huron to take on the Lady Tigers on Saturday, coming up short, 53-46.
The game was tight throughout, with Huron leading 26-24 at the half and 38-32 after three. But the Scoopers couldn’t make up any ground in the fourth quarter and fell to Huron.
Sturgis drops to 2-9 on the year and will play Hill City on Tuesday, Jan. 25 at West Gym. Huron improves to 6-4.
The Sturgis Scooper boys were down 9-0 early in the first, but got within three points in the third quarter. The Tigers struggled with free throw shooting throughout the game until the fourth, when they converted 10 of 15 attempts to hold off Sturgis, 51-45.
Owen Cass led the Scoopers (1-10) with 12 points. Dysen Peterson drained three three’s and finished with 11 points and 8 rebounds. Brandon Decker scored 13 for Huron (3-7).
Sturgis hosts Hill City on Tuesday, Jan. 25.
