RAPID CITY, S.D. – Severe weather brought heavy rain and large hail to portions of western South Dakota Thursday night.
The National Weather Service says nearly an inch of rain fell in Belle Fourche as well as golf ball sized hail.
The heavy rain led to a flash flood warning for southwestern Butte and North Central Lawrence County. The warning was allowed to expire at 10:00 p.m. Thursday night.
The storms moved east across the plains of western South Dakota late Thursday night, but had been downgraded from severe status.
