Small hatchback hits deer on I-90 Sunday; no injuries

STURGIS, S.D. – The driver of a small vehicle received only minor injuries after striking a deer on I-90 Sunday morning.

The accident occurred around 9:45 a.m. when the 2015 Smart For Two Hatchback struck the deer near mile marker 49.

The 77-year-old driver suffered only minor injuries and a female passenger was not hurt. The highway patrol reported seat belts were in use.

The incident backed up traffic Sunday morning as crews cleared the scene.
