PIERRE, S.D. — It appears the South Dakota House of Representatives will hold be holding a special session Nov. 9 to vote for the impeachment of South Dakota Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg.
House Speaker Spencer Gosch said on Saturday that the House crossed the 47 vote threshold to proceed with a special session to consider the impeachment of Ravnsborg.
Ravnsborg in late August entered a plea of no contest to two misdemeanors in connection with the death of Joe Boever, whom Ravnsborg struck and killed with his car near Highmore last September.
“There are enough petitions in both chambers to call a special session on Nov 9,” said Gosch. “Senator Schoenbeck and I will still need to sign a proclamation before it will be official. From there I will ask the body to appoint a committee of nine to investigate the terms described in the special session petition called by Majority Leader Peterson.”
Speaker Gosch said that he will appoint the committee, and will be the ninth member in case of a tie.
