South Dakota reports 29 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday, one new death out of Pennington County

RAPID CITY, S.D. — There were 29 new COVID-19 cases listed in Tuesday’s report from the state Department of Health.

Active cases dropped by 13 to 229 statewide but the number of hospitalizations increased for a second day to 43.

One new COVID-19 related death was reported, sending the state’s death toll to 2,023. The new death was a man in the 80+ age range in Pennington County.

Across the Black Hills area, there were 16 new cases.

Pennington County had 10 new cases, Meade and Butte County each reported two, and there was one new case each in Lawrence and Custer County.
