STURGIS, S.D. – South Dakota health officials say new COVID-19 cases were back up over 300 Tuesday as 320 new positive tests for the virus were reported.
After a decrease Monday, the number of hospitalizations jumped 17 as well to 178.
Around the Black Hills area, Pennington County reported 37 new cases. The total number of cases in Pennington is 2,041 and of those, 299 remain active. Active cases are down 23 Tuesday.
In Meade County, 13 new COVID-19 cases were reported, sending the cumulative total to 475. There are 97 active cases in Meade; down 3 from Monday.
Lawrence County added 8 new cases Tuesday. Of the now 342 total in Lawrence, 68 remain active. Active cases in Lawrence are up 4 today.
Other new cases around the Black Hills area include 3 in Custer and 2 in Butte counties. Custer County’s total reaches 175 with 39 active and Butte County’s total is 77 with 18 active.
Active cases statewide are down 73 today to 2,817.
A total of 1,323 new test results were reported Tuesday.
No new deaths were reported today, keeping the state’s death toll at 202.
